Forecast Update Friday January 8th, 2016 | Mammoth Mountain Weather| MammothSnowman.com

After a dry day today (Friday), light snow returns Saturday to refresh the snow-pack, but not enough snowfall is expected for deep powder conditions. Another light snowfall is possible Monday after a dry day Sunday followed by another chance for light to moderate snow around Wednesday into Thursday next week. The next chance for snow would then be over the following weekend, although current guidance suggests it won’t be a big storm as well. Larger storms are then possible after the 19-20th when extended outlook model forecasts are generally showing the El Nino influenced pattern to re-strengthen over the last part of January and into February.

Packed Powder Days at Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain was skiing and riding great this weekend. It’s a packed powder dream out there at this time and all the crowds have left the area. All those skiers and riders helped to pack out a lot of the hill off piste so when the winds picks up Wednesday we could be riding some fine wind blown sugar on packed out snow. Grooming wise Greg and his crew have been to a excellent job with all the natural snow. It’s amazing that we have over 40+ runs getting groomed out every night. If you like the corduroy get out at 8:30 daily this week for a soft blast of the groomed stuff. So much fun! Mammoth now has a base of 2 – 4 feet Chair 4 up to the top of Mammoth Mountain. There are 72 runs open with chairs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23 and G1 & G2 open from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Canyon Lodge and Eagle Lodge are now set to open on December 16th.
