8-24-2015 – More Smokey Skies with Highs in the 70s…

8-24-2015 – 8AM– Good Morning from Mammoth Lakes. At this time we have very very smoky skies down in town and out in Old Mammoth.   Up here near Canyon we have been in and out of the smoke cloud the last 12 hours.  Up in the Lakes Basin they are getting a dose of smoke but it s about half of what I found driving around at 7am this morning.  The Rough Fire has grown to 49,440 acres with an increase in containment to 17%. 2,126 personnel are currently assigned to the Rough Fire.  We can expect off and on periods of smoke until they get this fire under control.  Current weather conditions: As of this post I have a temperature here at 8175 of 51, up at the Main Lodge it’s 59 and at the top of Mammoth Mountain it is 53. Winds are 0-5 in town, SW 15-20 MPH at Main Lodge and over the higher elevations winds are out of the SW @ 20-30 MPH. Highs today in town look to reach 78-82 degrees and they look about the same for Tuesday and then we cool of into the mid to upper 70s.    Up
